Jewelry Care Guide

Proper care helps preserve your jewelry’s color, shine, plating, stones, and settings. Follow the material-specific instructions below and contact us if you are unsure how to clean a particular piece.

Can Jewelry Come into Contact with Water?

MaterialWater-Care Guidance
Copper & Cubic Zirconia JewelryShort-term contact with clean water is acceptable, but prolonged exposure is not recommended. Frequent contact with water, sweat, pool water, or seawater may cause copper-based plating to fade or tarnish faster.
925 Sterling Silver & Moissanite JewelryBrief contact with tap water is acceptable. Avoid prolonged soaking in seawater, swimming-pool water, hot-spring water, or chlorinated water because it may accelerate silver oxidation and darkening. Moissanite itself is water-resistant, but the metal and setting still require proper care.
Solid Gold JewelrySolid gold is chemically stable and can come into contact with clean water. However, pool chemicals, hot-spring minerals, soaps, cosmetics, and body lotions may gradually dull the surface shine or affect stone settings.

Remove Jewelry Before Showering, Swimming or Exercise

We strongly recommend removing all jewelry before showering, bathing, swimming, entering a hot spring, or exercising. Sweat, shampoo, soap, chlorine, saltwater, cosmetics, and repeated moisture can accelerate tarnishing, plating wear, and stone loosening.

Apply perfume, hairspray, lotion, sunscreen, and cosmetics before putting on your jewelry. Allow these products to dry before the jewelry touches your skin.

Can I Use an Ultrasonic Cleaner?

  • Do not use an ultrasonic cleaner on copper and CZ plated jewelry, black-rhodium plated jewelry, or two-tone and mixed-color plated pieces. Ultrasonic vibration may damage the finish, cause color-layer separation, or loosen stones.
  • Solid 925 silver and solid gold without special plating may be cleaned ultrasonically on an occasional basis, provided that the stones and settings are suitable and secure.
  • If you are uncertain about the metal, plating, stone, or setting, contact us before using an ultrasonic cleaner.

Recommended Cleaning Method

  1. After wearing, gently wipe the jewelry with a soft, clean microfiber jewelry cloth.
  2. For solid silver and solid gold, use mild lukewarm soapy water and a soft-bristled brush when deeper cleaning is required.
  3. Rinse carefully with clean water and dry the piece completely before storage.
  4. Do not use abrasive materials, toothpaste, bleach, strong acids, or harsh chemical cleaners.
  5. Do not use silver dip, chemical polishing liquid, or aggressive polishing products on plated jewelry.

Pouches & Polishing Cloths

A jewelry pouch is included with each order. Silver polishing cloths are available as optional add-ons. Please tell us before shipment if you need additional polishing cloths for your order.

Care for Plated Jewelry

  • Avoid perfume, hairspray, lotion, sunscreen, sweat, chlorine, saltwater, and chemical liquids.
  • Put jewelry on only after cosmetics, perfume, and skincare products have dried.
  • Wipe away sweat, skin oils, and dirt after every wear.
  • Do not soak plated jewelry in water.
  • Avoid rubbing the surface against hard or abrasive objects.

Gradual plating wear caused by normal friction, moisture, chemicals, and everyday use is a natural aging process rather than a manufacturing defect. Unusually rapid discoloration under proper use and care may be submitted for inspection under the applicable Warranty Policy.

Black Rhodium & Two-Tone Finishes

Black-rhodium and two-tone or mixed-color finishes are more sensitive to friction and chemical exposure than plain polished metal. Avoid heavy rubbing, repeated abrasion, and all ultrasonic cleaning. Over time, frequent wear may gradually reveal the underlying metal; this is a normal characteristic of plated-finish jewelry.

How to Store Your Jewelry

  • Wipe every piece clean and make sure it is completely dry before storage.
  • Store each item separately in a sealed jewelry pouch or airtight jewelry box.
  • Keep jewelry away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and unnecessary air exposure.
  • Separate pieces from hard objects and from one another to reduce scratching, tangling, and impact damage.
